Student Government at Butte College is made up of an elected Student Leadership Team and appointed Student Senators. Together these students work to represent and advocate for student interests, needs, and ideas. Students interested in joining student government can select a position on the Leadership Team or select to become a Student Senator.

What are the Minimum Requirements?

  • Enrolled in 5 units each semester you are in office 
  • Have a 2.0 GPA, and maintain a 2.0 each semester you are in office 
  • Must be able to attend weekly board meetings during the semester on Tuesdays from 2 pm to 4pm 
  • Must not be employed by the Associated Students 
  • Leadership Team members must have completed at least one semester at Butte College 

 

What is Expected From Me?

Student Government board members are confirmed in the spring prior to their year of service and begin their training over the summer. 

During the semester, board members work together on a range of projects, events, and advocacy efforts. A typical week includes participating in the student government board meeting, attending campus-wide committees, and working on projects. 

  • All members must attend the weekly A.S. Board meeting on Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m.

In addition to your weekly responsibilities, board members participate in PAID trainings and retreats over the  breaks, including: 

  • Summer Retreat & Training, Dates TBD
  • Winter Retreat, 2 days (the week before the first day of the spring semester)
